I assume everyone of us had, in one way or another, been guilty of piracy. Piracy in IT terms refer to stealing information in the web. I personally am guilt of illegaly downloading movies, songs, and copy pasting articles and forget to cite the source. This is violating the patent or the right to distribute by the authority. In my opinion, as long as the media or information is not stolen in a way that will discredit the works of the author and claiming it is yours. That is plagiarism. I think that as an art, some works must not be withheld
But technology's security is more than protecting people from fraud. It is also important to keep some informations from other peole has that is very confidential and must not be known by other people like credit cards. People around the world, especially outside the Philippines, has been victims wherein the cheater will demand the customer's credit car number and use it to purchase their personal stuffs.

e-commerce
Internet, as I have mentioned in my earlier entries, has yet to reach its peak. People are finding different ways in making use of this technology introducing us to processes and ways the earlier generations would never have thought of as possible. E-commerce is just one of those innovations which proves my arguement.
E-commerce basically is making transactions without personally meeting the other party. It has been existing for quite a while now. ATM can be classified as an e-commerce wherein the bank's client is able to make withdrawals without actually going to the bank. Today, with the help of internet and the growing ease of access to it, e-commerce is extended to other enterprises aside from banks. Internet becomes a virtual space where parties can meet and thus make their transactions.
There are two types of e-commerce namely C2B and C2C. C2B translates to consumer to business. Consumers are able to make purchases or access services by different businesses through the internet. E-bay and Amazon heads the pack of such services. Other small time businesses also open their stores online. Some even exist only online. This feature is advantageous because it cuts the firms costs of renting for a store thus lowering transactions costs transferring the saved cost to the customer making their products cheaper and more competitive. C2C on the other hand stand customer to customer. Internet brings people who are selling and people who wants to buy second hand together. tipidpc.com is famous for this feat.
The constitution is quick to adapt to these innovations passing laws that serve and protect the businesses and the consumers alike. This is a response to the increase cases of hackers and fraud in this business. These laws also help lower the risks the consumers face in this transactions because the consumers has limited resource in tracking fraud in the internet.

BPM-TQM-WTH???
Business Process Management or BPM is a management approach centered to the clients' needs and wants. In any enterprise, it is the client who gives life to a firm so it is only proper that firms give a special attention to their clients' needs even if it means that the compay is opt to loss a lot of revenues. The client always come first.
Business Process Management as the name suggest is a process. And every process there are steps or stages. Same is true with BPM. It undergoes Design, Modelling, Execution, Monitoring, and Optimization. First two stages -- Design and Modelling -- is closely related. A firm wanting to adapt a new BPM should establish a strong framework for this system. Design establishes the projected outcome of the system taking into account the existing problems the firm experiences and might experience with this new approach. Modelling on the other hand tests this theoretical design by adding varables. Simply put, modelling is where the design is scrutinized with "what-ifs" like "what if I adapt this will my production increase?" things like that. Execution is bringing these models into the field. Monitoring involves the evaluation of the process whether it is beneficial. One way to evaluate if a system is beneficial is if it outweighs the cost. Optimization is using the information acquired from monitoring to further improve the system. It also looks back to the model and if it really lived up to its purpose.
One type of BMP is TQM or Total Quality Management. From the word suggest it is centered to the clients' need giving emphasis to the product's quality. In business, quality is defined relative to the customer's expectations. Quality can be based on ease of use, durability, design, or other features the customer is looking for in the product depending on the customer. As a firm, it is the main goal to satisfy all these qualities to expand the market for their products across different groups. A good example is the i-touch. It's main target is the adolescence market but with other features like massive memory, GPS, etc, the market for i-touch is extended to the older generation.
One remarkable feature of TQM is it will go through tough measures just to satisfy or rather keep the patronage of their clients as it was in Toyota where they recalled millions of vehicles because of the problem in their car's accelerator. This defect caused a major accident in US which called for a massive recall. Fear of being sued further and for moral responsibilities, Toyota had to recall the cars which, for sure, caused them a lot. On one hand, it is a way of the company to cut their losses because cost of defending from suites is limitless and lives that can be lost in accidents are priceless.

Flowcharts
Flowchart is a diagram that presents processes in a step by step manner. Different shapes convey different meaning. Boxes represent steps; diamonds represent decisions and circles indicate continuation. These shapes are connected by arrows showing directions on which steps one action leads.
Flowcharts are very effective as a visual aid for instructions or procedures because it is very simple. It is also effective because flowcharts use communicate graphically. What I mean with communicating graphically is that flowcharts use more pictures than words. There are word instructions but it is the graphics that put sense to those instructions.
With proper utilization of flowcharts, it could be a very powerful tool especially for presentations. It can make the presentation easier to understand and it can save a lot of time in the part of the presentor. It can also avoid the confusion from too much words used and more importantly it is easier to remember .

web 2.0 and social media
The previous group reported about web 2.0 and focfocusing in social networking sites which is very prevalent in the world wide web community. The group also reported about social media which is being reshaped by the growing accessibility of internet.
Web 2.0 is the term than clusters web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, user centered design, interoperability, user centered design, and collaboration on the web. In a nutshell, web 2.0 is a group of web applications that enable users to interact through collaboration and information sharing with other users.
A very obvious example of a web application that allows such thing is what we called social networking sites. We all know what social networking sites are. The fact that you're reading this blog means you are familliar to these things. Social networking sites enable people to connect to other people. Blogs, tweets, statuses, updates, or whatever name depending on the site the person is tells other people what he/she wants to say about what's going on in his/her life or other people's lives (people sometimes do this). they also share files, photos, videos, articles, etc. Some networking sites uses application games where people playing a game interact in the game. The most common social networking sites is facebook. The company reported that they have 400 million active users. This is about 23 % of the 1,734,000,000 people who has access to internet (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm).
Social media is defined as a form of mass media that is designed to be dessiminated through social interaction; created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques like the internet. Social media has been successful in reshaping the way information sharing is done.
Information sharing was revolutionized by the introduction of the internet. The world wide web is a vast library of resources. From dictionary to encyclopedia; from articles and journals to books downloadable in pdf format, information sharing has become very easy. Also, information is democratized. Democratization refers to information being produced/edited by the users.
The internet, having 1.7 billion users, is a good ground for marketing. The audience is vast and market expands with the extension of geographic boundaries. Even before the campaign period had started, facebook has been plagued by different fan page of candidates. It is also a good place to advertise because it's free.
Indeed, internet has changed us in more ways than one. Web 2.0 is just one of those things. But this is just the start and internet is relatively young. I believe it hasn't reach its peak yet and more innovations will come especially in web 2.0 and social media.
